At this time of the year, between work functions, friend’s parties, shopping, and trying to retain some semblance of your sanity – it probably took some effort to set aside some time to come to the Pacific Grill for “Thanksmas.” I know I was reduced to setting alarms on my Iphone to remind me of where I was supposed to be next.
So I want to thank each and every one of you for coming out and supporting us and our community. 42 people attended and helped us raise $420 for our community! The food was fantastic, as was the hot buttered rum. I had the shrimp but stole some of the flat iron steak off my girlfriend’s plate when she wasn’t looking. Just kidding Sarah. However, the food was incredible. And so was the turnout. The evening was quite moving, seeing scores of officers from all over the country on attendance as well. Knowing they were here in Tacoma, to show solidarity and support of the four fallen Lakewood officers, their families, and those who still serve our community.
So thanks again and hope you enjoy the holidays. From all of us with Project:U …See you in 2010.

Come join us for a fun volunteer event on Saturday morning! Our official ‘volunteer meet up TIME’ will be at 8:30am. Look for Kirsten to check-in and get your assignment! When you arrive look for the area that has been set up for Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children. This area (probably a table, and inside the Dock St Pub Garage) will be the official ‘volunteer meet up point’. You’ll need to allow time to park, as with running events the roads are often blocked and the nearby parking lots are packed. Carpooling, walking, biking, are all encouraged. Also, do not park somewhere that you might get stuck in…
We, most likely, will be taking chips off of runners as they cross the finish line, helping people get where they need to be, working the gear check-in/check-out station, as well as advocating for Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children and trying to get donations for the “All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth” campaign. We will have a brief 3×5 card with what a donation of a certain amount will fund for your reference on the day of the race.

Here is some information reguarding upcoming volunteer events thru ACT NOW. To RSVP for any of these events click on the project name.
The Gingerbread Jamboree on Dec 6th in partnership with the Tacoma Children’s Museum. ACT NOW volunteers will be teamed up with Youth United volunteers at the frosting and candy booth. (need 3 volunteers in the AM)
Holiday Cards for Troops on Dec 9th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Partnering with 4-9 Company B to help children of military families design and craft cards to be sent to deployed loved ones. (need 11 volunteers)
Project Distribute is on Dec 19th from 12-3. Partnering with Emergency Food Network, volunteers will be preparing boxes of food to be distributed to area foodbanks. (need 7 volunteers)
